Puerto de Pollensa since November 30, 1993, has had a “Well of Cultural Interest”, on a small peninsula called Punta de Avanzada (1). They are buildings known as Fortaleza de Pollensa or Fortaleza de Albercutx, with the purpose of giving Pollensa military protection against pirate attacks. Built during the 16th century and used for defensive purposes until the 19th century, at the beginning of the 20th century its use was recovered to serve as a residence for artists visiting Pollensa. Cala Es Caló (2), is four kilometres from Port de Pollença, located between La Roja and Punta de Avançada. This wide sea inlet ends in a virgin beach, of reduced dimensions, in which flows a torrent, whose sediments helped to originate it.
